Holden, MA – September 2024 – Oriol Health Care is proud to announce that Nathan Oriol, Director of Finance and licensed Nursing Home Administrator, has been selected by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) as a Future Leader in Long Term and Post-Acute Care. This prestigious recognition is part of the AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program, a year-long initiative aimed at nurturing and developing leadership skills in the next generation of professionals within the long-term care industry.
Nathan Oriol’s selection for the program is a testament to his exemplary leadership at the state level and his potential to take on significant roles within the AHCA/NCAL. Throughout the program, Nathan will receive extensive training, mentorship, and development opportunities designed to enhance his leadership abilities and broaden his impact in the long-term care sector. The program will kick off with a two-day symposium in Washington, DC, where participants will immerse themselves in the latest theories and practices in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership.

Nathan Oriol began his career at Oriol Health Care at the age of 16, working in the kitchen of Holden Nursing Home. His passion for long-term care led him to progressively take on more significant roles, eventually serving as the Administrator at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center from 2013 to 2022. Currently, Nathan serves as the Director of Finance for Oriol Health Care, Administrator of Oriol Home Health and President of the Oriol Foundation. Nathan holds a bachelor’s degree in health management and policy from the University of New Hampshire and earned his Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from Assumption University in 2023.
The AHCA/NCAL Future Leaders program, established in 2004, is designed to cultivate leadership skills in long-term care professionals and prepare them for future roles within the organization and the broader industry. Participants are selected based on their leadership potential and commitment to representing the interests of long-term care providers at both the state and national levels.

The Oriol family announces the first step of its expansion at their Holden Campus. Founded by Eugene Oriol of Holden, Oriol has been serving the community since 1964. Oriol owns and operates Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Oriol Home Health, and Oriol Outpatient Therapy. Oriol is a recognized healthcare leader in both the Worcester and Wachusett communities and throughout New England.
Since acquiring the former Holden District Hospital property, Oriol has demonstrated its commitment to the community by providing, improving, and expanding public access to health care services on the site.
Commencing later this month, work will begin on utility upgrades and site improvements on the upper portion of the Holden campus. This work is associated with the proposed renovations and reuse of the former hospital building. During this time, temporary changes to vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns may occur. Oriol asks the public to exercise extreme caution while visiting the site.
Oriol will collaborate with local, regional, and state planning and economic development officials. In addition, Oriol will be consulting engineers and community focus groups, in preparing plans for future development of the campus.

Oriol Memorial Community Scholarship to a graduating senior in Boylston, West Boylston and the Wachusett district towns encompassing Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, and Sterling that will be pursuing a degree in health care.
The Eugene Oriol Memorial Community Scholarship is a great opportunity for graduating seniors from Boylston, West Boylston, and the Wachusett District who plan to pursue a degree in health care. This scholarship, offered by the Oriol Foundation, aims to support the future of healthcare, and honor the memory and legacy of Eugene Oriol, the founder and first administrator of Holden Nursing Home.

Holden, MA – The Oriol Foundation is happy to announce the winners of their 2022 Eugene Oriol Memorial Scholarships to two local graduating seniors. The community scholarship winner is Reilly Laitala of Sterling, recent graduate of Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School. Reilly will be attending Norwich University to pursue her BS in nursing. The team scholarship winner is Colleen Duddy of Holden, recent graduate of Wachusett Regional High School. Colleen will be attending Endicott College to pursue a nursing degree. Colleen is a team member at Holden Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center.
The Oriol Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes including but not limited to enriching the lives of those who deliver this care; to promote wellness and stimulate innovations in health care so all may live more independently and safely wherever they call home in the Wachusett community. Each year, The Oriol Foundation offers two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing healthcare education; one to a community member and one to an Oriol team member.

Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, part of Oriol Health Care and the Oriol 360 Care Management Team, announces the promotion of Harry Quick, NHA to Administrator. Quick, of Worcester, began working for Oriol Health Care as a Resident Life Assistant at Holden Rehabilitation in 2016 and promoted to Resident Life Director in 2017. Quick’s continued enthusiasm and leadership skills led him to study as an AIT (Administrator-in-training) under the guidance of Tara D’Andrea, Holden’s then Administrator. Quick took on the role of Assistant Administrator in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and after rigorous testing and exams, he is now a licensed Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) and has moved into the position of Administrator of Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Facility. Quick holds a bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales University where he graduated Cum Laude from the Counseling Psychology program in 2015. His interests include spending time with his wife and children, basketball, music, and movies.
Tara D’Andrea, MBA, NHA of Paxton, has moved into a new position with Oriol Health Care as Director of Operations. In her new role, D’Andrea will be orchestrating the Oriol 360 concept while overseeing Holden Rehabilitation, Oriol Therapy Services and Oriol Home Health/Oriol At Home with the goal to strengthen and streamline Oriol’s coordination of integrated post-acute health care. D’Andrea will now be directing Oriol teams providing care within our nursing centers, in your homes, and in our outpatient therapy gym.
D’Andrea has been in the healthcare industry for over 25 years and has spent the last 17 years as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, with the past 7 years being at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. D’Andrea graduated from Worcester State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology minoring in Communication Disorders and received her MBA with a dual concentration in Management and Healthcare Management from Fitchburg State University in 2020.
Holden, MA – Oriol Health Care is expanding their continuum of care concept, known as “ORIOL 360”, to include a partnership with Integral Health Partners (IHP) of Worcester. Allison Hargreaves, MD, the Medical Director of Oriol’s Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, and Oriol Home Health has recently joined the IHP group of veteran nurse practitioners after working closely with them throughout the pandemic at Holden Rehab. As a component of the Oriol 360 Care Team, Dr. Hargreaves and the IHP nurse practitioners will assist not only with inpatient care of patients and residents at Holden and Oakdale but will also be able to follow patients of Oriol Home Health out in the local community. This partnership has increased the satisfaction and recovery of patients as well as reduced the number of readmissions to hospitals.
ORIOL 360 is a unique care management program developed by the Oriol family and clinical team to encompass many aspects of health care; from community education, to rehabilitation, to inpatient therapies, to home health care and back to outpatient therapies, all-the-while having the same care team members. This full circle of care within the Oriol and IHP partnership is conducive to better healing and recovery success.

HOLDEN – Holden Rehab will be hosting their 5th annual Breakfast with Santa on December 7th. This year there will be a new Christmas Corner Marketplace with local crafters selling affordable, unique items in the therapy gym from 9am – 1pm. Free gift wrapping will be offered. Santa will be available in the library for photos from 9am to noon while a buffet breakfast is served in the community room. Printed photos will be available while supplies last. Oriol Health Care has hired Maria Franco, BSW of Clinton to join their social services team at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Franco, originally from Puerto Rico, is a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College and Anna Maria College where she earned her Bachelors in Social Work.
Oriol Therapy Services has hired Darlene Kilhart, PT, DPT, MS of Athol as Director of Rehab Services at the Holden location within Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Kilhart has been practicing physical therapy for 32 years; the last 18 in skilled nursing facilities. She is a graduate of Kean University in NJ, post graduate of Massachusetts General Hospital Allied Health Professions with an advanced Master’s Degree in Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and a graduate in the first class for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy also from MGH.
